Abe Ekren is a painter and printmaker, born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1997. In 2020, he received an Interdisciplinary BFA degree in painting and printmaking, with an Art History Minor, at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Ekren has already been included in various significant exhibitions including “Exploring Our Fears” at The In Art Gallery, in Charlotte, North Carolina and “UNCC Juried Exhibition” in SPCC Gallery, Charlotte, North Carolina. He led a team of artists to create the 2018 installation Obsolescence at ROWE Gallery, in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2020, he exhibited Making Connections, an installation piece comprised of found objects and printmaking, for his BFA show at UNCC. Recently graduated, Ekren is working on commissions and furthering his artistic practice in his at-home studio; he continues to pursue exhibition opportunities, while preparing for graduate school. Ekren currently lives and works in the Charlotte area of North Carolina.
